Open(ly critical) Thread

It’s a Friday afternoon on the East Coast of Americaland. We’ve got one sunny day left until Tropical Storm Hanna starts grinding on us like a drunk guy at a dance club. Before the precipitation sends us all running to the store for the magical bread and protective milk, I thought this might be a good time for a little assessment of our progress.

It’s been about seven weeks since we hooked up the electrodes and zapped some twitching life into this long neglected webspace. We’ve added new contributors and, between the handful of us, we’ve managed to update at least once every weekday since the middle/end of July. Thanks in part to a couple of auspicious links (and an oddly large number of people Googling Mark Biltz), we’ve had over 5,000 hits, and we’re averaging about 50 readers across our various feeds.

Of course, we’re not just standing around here for our health. We want to make this an interesting experience for you as well. So here’s your chance to weigh in and let us know what you think. Likes, dislikes, burning hatreds, irrational phobias. Anything from the site design to the content to the government agents digging holes in your lawn. Hit us with it in the comments, or send an email to oskar [at symbol] suburbanpanic [dot] com.

In the spirit of honest criticism, I’m turning off all comment moderation on this post. I reserve the right to an after-the-fact purge of obvious linkwhores, but any on-topic comments will stay in.

Have at it.

  1. This is just sad. What’s a guy got to do to get some vitriol around here?

Well, Bro. Mark Biltz got it wrong. He’s in good company. I’ve been predicting the RAPTURE for the last 28 years. So far, I’m 0 for 28. But, I have no worries. You see..It will happen one day. Just not yesterday. One of things that helped me to decide to become a Jewish believer, was the story of Noahs’ Ark. I do not want to be one of the many that doubted God and got left behind. I want to be one of the survivors. And In Jesus, I am guaranteed to be a winner. So all of you doubters, when the flood comes, it will be too late. Better get on board now.

  3. @Bobthewebguy – But in Genesis 9:8, YHWH promises that he won’t ever drown us again. If he decides to destroy us for acting on the impulses he created us with, it won’t be with water. My bet is with on famine, personally.

  4. @Oskar Kennedy – My money’s on the one-two of plague and pestilence.

Nothing seems to be easier than seeing someone whom you can help but not helping.
I suggest we start giving it a try. Give love to the ones that need it.
    God will appreciate it.

  6. @excedaRem – I’d bet that the people receiving the love/help will appreciate those things far more than a deity.
