I like Candidate X the best. Candidate X got through the latest debate without saying anything too appallingly stupid. Therefore, Candidate X was clearly the winner. I like Candidate X the best.

  1. herbert says:

maybe things will change when competency falls out of style or when voters believe x has more possible values than two.

oh man. I wish I could remember algebra. the domain of x isn’t limited to two? third party math? I wish I had a seventh grader to help me with this.

  2. @herbert – Competency fell out of style in 2000. It was replaced with lukewarm enthusiasm.

  3. @Waldorf Van Buren – Competency has never been as highly valued as public image. The neo-cons have just cranked it up to 11.

@herbert – I’d love to see a viable third party in American politics. But convincing the existing parties to give up their mutual stranglehold on the process is an uphill battle in the sense that Mount Everest is a sizable hill.

  4. herbert says:

Waldorf Van Buren. lies! competency is very much in style! then again, I still wear the same stuff I did in 2000.

Waldorf Van Buren. yeah, nothing but money will get them on tv. even if we use something like instant run-off voting, they still won’t get exposure and nobody will know how awesome they really are.

  5. @herbert – I’m all for a NO-party system, actually. Well, I’m for a modest get together and social soirees, but I’d like to see political parties become nothing but an antiquated experiment.

    • @Waldorf Van Buren – I don’t think you could completely get rid of political parties. Getting people to know enough about each candidate so they can vote without some kind of shorthand for the candidate’s positions would be totally hopeless.

  6. @Oskar Kennedy – I can dream, can’t I?
