How are you celebrating the arbitrary division of our solar orbit? If you’re lucky enough to be in Northern latitudes, there’s a good chance your festivities include some amount of going outside to freeze your genitals off. Bundle up in layers, and if you can’t feel your extremities, it’s time to take the party inside.

While you’re recovering from your hangover (or your hypothermia), ponder this. Why does an advanced species like ourselves not just agree to re-arrange our Orbit Day celebration to sometime around one equinox or another, so that people in both hemispheres would be better able to gather in large, outdoor groups without so much risk of exposure-related injury?
