I never, ever participate in Internet memes. But when one gets a free link from a far more awesome popular blog, it’s only polite to make an exception. Even if you’ve been tagged specifically because you aren’t expected to follow up. =)
By the whim of Rebecca at Skepchick, here is the “Six Random Things” memes. The rules are as follows:
One: Link to the person who tagged you. (x)
Two: Post the rules. (x)
Three: Write six random things about yourself. (x)
Four. Tag six people. (x)
Five. Inform the tagees and the person who tagged you. (x)
Here are some random things about me that you will, no doubt, find horribly compelling. Because I am contrarian, I’m going to include a seventh random, untrue item. See if you can guess which one is the fake.
1) I was in a college play in which I was in drag for the first scene, but in a police uniform for the rest of the show. Afterwards, the father of one of the cast members asked “what happened to the cute girl in the orange dress?”
2) I did not masturbate for the first time until after I lost my virginity.
3) At a different college, I won an award for an essay I wrote about how, when I was growing up, my father and I watched the Philadelphia Eagles play football every Sunday. I later learned that my father didn’t particularly care for the Eagles, but we lived in South Jersey, so those were the only games that were reliably available on television.
4) I have never voted in a presidential primary.
5) At my bachelor party, I got so drunk that I passed out on the loading dock of my apartment building. I got frostbite from the concrete floor, and lost several square inches of skin on my buttocks and back.
6) Before we knew we were having a girl, my wife and I were planning to name our possible son “Darwin.”
7) I worked for an adult video website for 18 months prior to law school.
Like I said, one of these random things is totally fabricated. Guesses about the fake will be taken in the comments.
The tagging others part is a delicate dance. Who do I want to obligate, and who do I think will have answers that are all interesting, and do those lists overlap at all. Also, who do I know well enough that they’d be bothered to indulge me. Let’s see…
RyogaM, Hedy, Pab, Glomar, Improbable Bee and Lore (who I don’t know, and probably can’t be arsed, but would probably have good answers, so it’s worth a shot), you’re up.
